Just in case you are wondering ----
WHAT IS THE ÒHOWLING WOLF SALOONÓ?
Just as in the old American West, saloons were in tents.
Some simply set on creek banks, at a cross road, some at end of
track on railroad construction, or around mining camps and in new
towns. A couple of Whiskey barrels and a few planks was all that was
needed to start. As the west grew, the saloon continued to be the
center of social interaction for a cowboy, miner, business man or
traveler, a social gathering point for entertainment, a place for the
exchange of information, or a place to transact business.
The Howling Wolf Saloon is an Old West Style Saloon in a
tent fashioned after the saloons of the Old West that is all about social
activities. Tables to sit and rest, talk, play cards, or lots of other
games, discuss your shooting prowess or just lie about how good or
poorly you shot. The saloon music is Classic Country juke box, easy
to just listen to or socialize.
There is organized gambling with Texas
Hold ÔEm every night. Porker, checkers, chess, backgammon or
dominos anytime.
The Wolf is proud to continue its fine tradition of being the
center for social activities and provide that Old West social atmosphere
at this yearÕs ÒShootout at 5 Dogs CreekÓ.
The Howling Wolf can not sell any food or beverages, so it is
set up as a private party for the event shooters and their guests. You
can obtain co-proprietorships good for the length of the event (3 days
only $6.66/day, Thurs, Fri, Sat) for $20.00 prior to April 15, 2011, price
goes up to $25 thereafter. Co-proprietors are entitled access to the
saloon, gambling area, and to enjoy adult beverages, including well
drinks, ice cold draft beer, a wine bar and the famous ÒHowling At the
Moon Brandy Òright from the barrel. We will be making margaritas, but
no other fancy drinks, Òthis is a Cowboy bar, after all.Ó For a social
proprietorship, there are diet and non-diet sodas, lemonade and of
course, ÒSasaparillaÓ for only $10.00 for the three days. There is no
greater value anywhere.
